‘Hunger Games’ movie opens in theaters in 3D this weekend
Moviegoers are finally getting to see the film adaptation of the bestselling Hunger Games books, and it’s bringing a whole new level of excitement.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set for release in 3-D on Saturday, November 14, the film’s release date was revealed at Comic-Con International in San Diego on Saturday.
And with the addition of 3-d theaters, it will finally bring some closure to the franchise, as the book series will finally see the light of day.
Director Jennifer Lee (American Hustle) is returning for the sequel, which follows Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) as she becomes the new head of her revolutionary group of students in the fictional nation of Sparta.
The film, which will star Oscar Isaac and Liam Hemsworth, is set to debut in theaters on November 19, 2019.
This isn’t the first time the franchise has come to 3-dimensional screens.
The first film, titled The Hunger Games, came to the big screen in the early 2000s and was the first movie to have an interactive 3-camera look.
That film featured Katnis family, including her sister, Ella (Emma Thompson), her mother and father, as well as the rest of the gang.
The latest Hunger Games movie will be the first of two direct-to-video films set to hit theaters, with The Hunger Game: Caught in the Crossfire set to arrive on November 15, 2019, and Hunger Games Sequel: The Choice will debut on November 18, 2019 with the film featuring a new cast and more.
