The bear was spotted in a tent and climbed the fence to enter the hotel on Monday afternoon, according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

The two people died at the hotel, the agency said.

Officials have been looking into the bear’s cause of death and whether it was an accident, but there was no immediate evidence that the bear caused the deaths, said Fish and Wildlife spokesman Mark Glynn.

The bears are the second confirmed incident in a week involving the Big Bear.

On Monday, a bear attacked and killed a man who had just finished his morning commute in the area, according the department.

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital.

The other man was able to walk away from the bear and was able call authorities.
